Chapter VI

Morning arrived so quickly to the Great Oak and it found Beetelybug in good spirits. Having spent most of the night speaking with Galik, he decided he would speak with his mother later for he had a journey to continue and he wanted no more worries to bother him. He had indeed learned a lot from Mr. Higgles. Always so happy, laughing, he truly made the most of everyday and he was going to do the same thing. He wished he had some flowers to run through, for he knew this would truly help him. And without another thought, Galik and Kalin arrived, and they both were quickly flown to a field of flowers, and though they both cried with joy, it was a happy morning and one Beetelybug would not soon forget. For Kalin had become as good a friend as Galik to our travelers.

Landing back at the Great Oak they found Meena waiting on them. She knew her brothers were up to something this morning, though she was not too sure what it was. Having seen the two travelers safely landed in the canopy made her feel good these two fairies were her brothers. And our two travelers were in the best of spirits and were ready to see the sunken garden, something only the guardian of the Great Oak could show them. They were lowered to the forest floor by Kalin and Galik and were taken to an area just beyond the tree. For Sorela’s guardians watched over and protected the sunken garden. Out in an opening, one could see an area that truly was below ground with a small lake in the center, so crystal clear and it seemed so inviting. Meena told them the water was very cold but they were welcomed to jump in if they wanted to. Beetelybug had heard about the lake and wondered if it too had a guardian and he also wanted to know if it truly had healing powers. “Alia is her name. She is a sister to Mineera and she watches over this area of the Old Forest. I have heard the stories of the healing powers but I am not too sure how they were started. Besides the water being so clear and very cold, I am not aware of anyone with an illness ever jumping in and coming out healed” Meena told them. Now Beetelybug had not completely put the issue concerning his mother out of his mind but he was wondering if the water might help him. “Go ahead, jump in, I will lift you when you surface, it is worth a try” Galik whispered to his friend for he too knew Beetelybug’s heart, probably better than Beetelybug did. But before he could jump in, Mr. Higgles jumped right into the middle of the lake and came up laughing harder than he had in days. This was the perfect size lake for Mr. Higgles, being so small himself. Ofian quickly flew over to see
